Futebol in America

This past Sunday i had the privilege of watching Brazil win its third Confederations Cup. As i was watching the game i felt torn between the country of my birth and the country and culture that has been such a huge part of my life. I was hoping for the best team to win. As the game progressed the US went up 2-0 and the barrage of smack talking began! I was wearing a Brazil jersey and I really got an ear full. The second half started and after three unanswered goals Brazil lifted the cup in victory. Now, anyone who saw the game knows this. My entire premise for writing this is to express how difficult it is to be a Brazil supporter. If you win it is expected that you win, and if you loose you hear it forever. The assault on Brazil is by everyone and it makes fun of the entire country, from samba to thongs nothing is sacred. I love America, my country, but it is a difficult thing to cheer for Brazil when you are here. "Viva Brasil!"
